Here’s a couple of 12″x12″ acrylic paintings I did based on an abandoned house on Highway 146 near Woodruff, SC. They are really exercises in abstract composition. The flat blue “sky” shape—which in the lower painting merges on the right with the organic pattern of tree branches—plays against the complex angles and linear patterns defining the structure. I kept the colors simple—shades of blue, gray and rust—so not to distract from the play of shapes and patterns.
These paintings are juried into the Artist Guild Gallery of Greenville’s 2014 Juried Small Works Exhibition (which is a really big name for a show featuring small works!) The show will be up the month of October in their downtown gallery.
