So, we drove west from Panama City just to see the sights. As I noted in a previous post, this beach vacation area during the off season reminds me of the empty movie sets I used to wander. Driving west from Panama City, you eventually come to Seaside, FL. Seaside, in addition to being a pretty little seaside town, was also once an actual movie set. The Truman Show, starring Jim Carey, was released 20 years ago. It’s worth re-watching. It’s not really a pretty movie and you won’t find it mentioned in Seaside. But the vibe’s there, anyway. Seaside, Fl is not technically a municipality, but like the imaginary town in The Truman Show, it’s a planned corporate community. Except without the creepiness.
