Red Maple

Here’s a little painting of a Red Maple in our (previous) backyard. It’s called a Red Maple because when the first leaves appear in early spring, they are red. In later spring, the leaves turn bright green and then in summer, a deeper green. When fall arrives, they turn red again. And then, well, they fall off. I painted this when all of the leaves had fallen and the otherwise colorful tree was asleep in its winter white. But it was still, to my eye, a colorful scene.
